My House Still Has A Tank. How Often Does It Need Pumping?

We're On City Sewer Now. What Happens To The Old Tank?
It gets pumped out and permanently closed, not just left there. A tank nobody closed out properly is a hole waiting to open up.
Texas handles abandonment under TCEQ rules. The tank comes empty first, then it's closed out so it can't collapse or fill with water.
If the switch happened before you bought the house, there may be no record of it at all. We'll find it, empty it, close it out, and handle the paperwork.
