COMMERCIAL SEPTIC INSPECTIONS IN TRAVIS COUNTY
Keep Your Septic System Working Great
A notice from the county. A lender asking for records. An alarm nobody logged. When your business runs on septic, a commercial septic inspection isn't paperwork, it's protection. Don't sit on it. HomeField inspects, documents, and gets you squared away.
Here's the wrinkle in this territory: compliance depends on whose desk your permit sits on, and this metro has at least seven permitting authorities. Travis County, Austin Water, LCRA, Hays County, and three cities that run their own septic programs. Austin requires commercial aerobic systems to hold a maintenance contract in perpetuity. Hays requires maintenance on every aerobic system, period. We inspect to the standard your authority actually enforces, put it in writing, and hand you a report you can file with confidence. That's the job.

What Does A Commercial Septic Inspection Look Like?
Think of it as a physical for the system your business depends on. We open the tanks and check levels, baffles, and lids. We look for cracks, leaks, and anything letting groundwater in or wastewater out. On an aerobic unit, and most newer systems around here are aerobic, we test the aerator, the pump, the alarm, and the spray heads or drip lines. Then we watch how water actually moves through the whole train, from your building to wherever the effluent ends up.
The part that matters most for a business is what happens after. You get a written report: what we found, what's working, what's wearing out, and what your permitting authority would flag. Not a sticker on a lid and a wave goodbye. Documentation you can hand to the county, a lender, or a buyer without holding your breath. If something needs attention, it's in the report with a plain recommendation and a price, so the fix becomes a decision instead of a mystery.
What Are HomeField Inspectors Looking For In My System?
Two things: what's breaking, and what's out of compliance. They're not always the same list.
On the mechanical side, we're checking the stuff that quietly takes down commercial systems. Sludge building faster than anyone planned for. An aerator running weak. An alarm that got silenced months ago and stayed that way. Effluent surfacing where your customers park. Commercial flow is heavier and less forgiving than a household's, so small problems compound fast.
On the compliance side, the rulebook here has teeth. Texas expects an aerobic system to be inspected every four months by a licensed maintenance company. Austin goes further for businesses: commercial aerobic systems under its code have to hold a maintenance contract in perpetuity, and the city can revoke an operating license over a system that isn't kept up. In unincorporated Travis County, the standard is blunt: licensed and not failing. The county enforces it with notices of violation and stop-work orders. Hays County requires maintenance on every aerobic system, any lot size. We inspect against the rulebook that actually applies to your address, then tell you exactly where you stand.
What Happens If My Septic System Fails Its Inspection?
We rank what we find. Some items are maintenance: a pump-out, a part swap, a chlorine feed that ran dry. Some are real repairs, and in Texas, repairing or altering a septic system generally takes a permit from whichever authority governs your property before the work starts. The only carve-out is a true emergency tank repair, and even that has to be reported within 72 hours. With seven permitting authorities operating in this territory, knowing whose desk your paperwork lands on is half the battle. We tell you which one owns your address, what they'll want to see, and what the timeline realistically looks like. Then we handle it.
If you're already holding a notice, move fast but don't guess. In unincorporated Travis County, exposed sewage has to be corrected within 24 hours, and an unaddressed violation is how a warning turns into a stop-work order. A dated inspection report with a scoped repair plan shows the authority you're on it. That beats silence every time.
Will A Commercial Advantage Plan Cover Inspections?
Yes. Every Commercial Advantage Plan is built around the business it covers, and required inspections are the backbone of all of them. If you run an aerobic system, somebody licensed is supposed to be looking at it every four months anyway. A plan turns that legal rhythm into a schedule you never have to think about, with every visit documented and every report filed where you can actually find it.
That file matters more than most owners expect. When the permitting authority asks, when a buyer's lender asks, when an insurance adjuster asks, a folder of dated inspection reports answers for you. It's the cheapest credibility a septic-dependent business can own.
