What Do Our Septic Tank Services Look Like In Bee Cave?
Out here you're the water utility and the wastewater utility both. Well on one end, septic on the other, and nobody sends you a notice when something drifts. It's also why adding a bedroom is a septic question before it's a construction question. More bedrooms means more design flow, and the ground decides what that costs.
Acreage misleads people on permits. Texas exempts a system from permitting only on ten acres or more, and only when every part of it sits a hundred feet off the property lines. So go pace it. If there's less than a hundred feet between your drainfield and a property line, or your lot is under ten acres, the exemption was never yours. The Homestead's lots run from about one acre to nine. The City of Bee Cave is its own TCEQ authorized agent and permits inside the city limits. Unincorporated property nearby goes through Travis County, where a standard residential permit is $712 this year. Which desk applies is our problem, not yours, and so is everything after it.
Here's the part worth sitting with. If your water comes out of your own well and your wastewater goes into your own system, there's no utility on either end of the house watching for you. Nobody sends a notice when something drifts. So the calendar is yours by default. Then there's the part you only notice after dark. Bee Cave became an International Dark-Sky Community in April 2023, the seventh city in Texas. That designation isn't handed out. A town has to want it, and wanting it means staying spread out. Follow that one step further. A sewer main is arithmetic about rooftops per mile of pipe, and the parts of Bee Cave people fall in love with are measured in acres per house instead of houses per acre. Bee Cave went and asked for the dark sky. The tank in the yard is what the answer cost.
