We install 24-inch risers on all new systems. For older tanks, two sizes have been common—18-inch risers for single-compartment tanks and 24-inch for two-compartment models.

This gives proper access for full pumping service and allows for easy maintenance of the effluent filter located in the outlet baffle. That filter plays a critical role in keeping solids out of your disposal field, and you need to clean it once or twice a year.
